The administration urges the compliant press to stop reporting on its failure to combat the global terror threat.

Secretary of State John Kerry wants to keep the American people in the dark regarding the global jihadist terrorist threat we are facing. Referring to terrorism in remarks he made at the Edward M. Kennedy Center in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a country that has recently experienced its own encounter with Islamist terrorists, Kerry said, “Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on.”
Kerry was just reflecting his boss’s bizarro worldview. In an interview with Vox, for example, Obama agreed “absolutely” with the proposition posed by the questioner that “the media sometimes overstates the level of alarm people should have about terrorism and this kind of chaos...”
Knowing too much about what is really going on under President Obama’s watch, after all, might make us realize just how bad the Obama administration's foreign policy failures have metastasized into a worldwide catastrophe.
Obama and Kerry want us to think that climate change is the real number one security threat, not jihadists determined to kill us by any means possible. "No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change,"said Obama in his 2015 State of the Union speech. During his April 18, 2015 weekly address on climate change, Obama said that “today, there’s no greater threat to our planet than climate change.”
The president who derisively referred to ISIS as a “jayvee” team does not believe the jihadist terrorists represent a serious threat to Americans’ safety, even as they seek weapons of mass destruction to annihilate us. “They’re not coming here to chop our heads off,” Obama reportedly told his close adviser, Valerie Jarrett, back in 2014 after she had raised with him the concerns felt by the American people as they witnessed beheadings of Americans abroad.
In his April 2016 Atlantic article entitled “The Obama Doctrine,” Jeffrey Goldberg wrote that “Obama frequently reminds his staff that terrorism takes far fewer lives in America than handguns, car accidents, and falls in bathtubs do.” Goldberg quoted Obama as saying that “for me to satisfy the cable news hype-fest would lead to us making worse and worse decisions over time.”
It is hard to believe that Obama’s foreign policy decisions could have been much worse than they have turned out to be. “America has now averaged one serious Islamic terrorist attack a year on President Obama’s watch,” according to a June 2016 article written by Paul Sperry, author of “Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington.”
Obama’s trivialization of the terrorist threat to Americans, echoed by Kerry, demonstrates his shameful insensitivity to the legitimate fears of the people he is supposed to serve. He wants a compliant press to join in his deliberate campaign to lull the American people into a false sense of security. He wants Americans to believe, as he was quoted as saying in his Atlantic interview, that "ISIS is not an existential threat to the United States. Climate change is a potential existential threat to the entire world if we don’t do something about it." He wants Americans to believe that, contrary to the evidence of ISIS’s expansion of branches into 18 countries, ISIS is being successfully contained. What’s more, Obama refuses to identify the enemy we are facing as radical Islamist terrorists or to acknowledge that their animating ideology is rooted in a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam that is all too prevalent in the Muslim world today.
Obama’s policies have made the world a far more dangerous place than it was when he assumed office in 2009. As observed by retired Marine Gen. James Mattis, who oversaw military operations in the Middle East when he served as head of the U.S. Central Command, the Middle East “is experiencing the most turmoil since the end of the Ottoman empire and it’s getting worse.” At the same time, under Obama’s watch, U.S. influence in the Middle East “is at its lowest ebb in 40 years.”
Rather than confront the threats emanating from the Middle East head-on, the Obama-Clinton-Kerry terrible trio pivoted away from the region towards Asia. At the same time, they managed to simultaneously provide paths for ISIS to flourish and the Iranian regime to enhance its power as the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The only thing they are able to do well is to lie about their failures.
As for the media, the Obama administration uses sympathetic outlets to serve as the administration’s “echo chamber,” as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, Ben Rhodes, boasted with regard to the Iran nuclear deal. It misleads the media and, therefore, the American people, as it has done on such stories as the Benghazi attack and the ransom payment to Iran. And, as Kerry would like to have it, the administration wants to make sure that “People wouldn’t know what’s going on,” by seeking to reduce media coverage of inconvenient truths such as the spread of global jihad terrorism.
